Pacecar question
Pacecar question
I've noticed that ALL pacecars seem to have this color scheme...

I was wondering, how would you be able to tell if it's a pacecar from the factory (what codes would there be)
And secondly, was the color scheme available without the pacecar, or was it strictly for the pacecar?
thanks.

Here's some information taken directly from www.camaros.org which has done a ton of research on first generation Camaros.
"The following, to the best of our knowledge, defines necessary, but perhaps not sufficient, criteria for 1967 Pace Car replicas. All known replicas, whether LOS-built or NOR-built, are C-1 or O-1 paint V8 RS convertibles with 732-Z interior and a dash at the end of the option section to note the non-standard blue nose stripe color. Many, but not all, have fleet codes in the option field as well. All were built between 04A and 06C of 1967. They are known to have come with LF7 (Canada-only 06C cars, as far as we know), L48, or L35 engines (no known L30 engines at this time), with either 4-speeds or floor-shifted automatics. All known and documented non-Canadian cars were built 05D or before."
So you need to look at the build date and interior and exterior color codes.

The actual RPO codes are only found on the window sticker. The codes mentioned in the article I quoted are found on the trim tag found on the firewall next to the brake master cylinder and windshield wiper motor. Those aren't RPO codes, they are assembly line codes.
