The new mouse

The 327 in our blue 67 coupe went south, so we decided to swap in a new 350HO crate motor... and a few other accessories.

JG, I was just looking at your motor pics and I noticed that you said next up was a TKO-500, but I'd suggest looking at the 600. I had a TKO and I hated the gear ratios of the tranny so I sold it. The 3.27 1st gear is about worthless, IMO.

XcYZ.... I think 600 Hp and 550 lb of tq on street tires did not help the situation.....

I can attest to what Scott is talking about. 1st gear was pretty much worthless.

Re: The new mouse

Unfortunately we ordered the tranny about six weeks ago. I'll ask my mechanic about that when he calls me back on another item. He's going with a new vendor on the tranny who is selling it as a complete kit for the 67 including shifter, driveshaft, clutch, flywheel and all the accessories. He did a similar swap for a 454 Chevelle without problems, but it never hurts to ask.

Thanks.

JG, the TKO was a great tranny and it shifted awesome. It would still be in the car if it weren't for the first gear ratio. The 3.27 first gear, along with 3.73's and a 26" tall tire just wasn't that usefull in my 69. It would go by awefully quick, especially with the aluminum flywheel. lol

Ray, it's not going to get any better, either!

Crap, that's similar to the setup we're going with.
