A new Camaro maybe??

Have owned 3 Camaro's in the past, but it has been quite some time so I haven't kept up with things. Anyways am thinking of buying a '70 1/2 split bumper Camaro Z28 RS. It is in fair condition with matching numbers on the engine and body. Price is between $2000-2500. Only thing different and not original is the high rise manifold and the edelbrock carb.. So do you folks think that is reasonable for one of these? Seemed straight and no rust either. Will be taking it for a test spin on Thursday and maybe finalizing things. Thanks for any input you folks can provide.

'70 1/2 split bumper Camaro... those are sexy sexy sexy sexy sexy cars

And if its complete with no rust on the frame, id say for a few grand it would be worth it... 70s camaros are highly desirable

< 2,500 for a 70 1/2 RS/Z28 in decent condition, are you making this up to torture us? Jump on it like Bill Clinton on a chubby! If you don't, tell me where it's at.

Re: A new Camaro maybe??

I plan on hoping on it. Like I said, to be restored, it will need paint or at least a good buff job, the interior needs work, the front grill and trim needs to be replaced, the rear spoiler needs to be replaced, the ignition and door locks need to be replaced and I am sure a number of other things. But it does run. Has original turbo 400 tranny with 3:73 rear end and 350 motor. What would be to much to pay for this? Right now my budget is about $2500. My plan is to getting something that I can work on, but at least run. Will slowly over time do all of these things to it and of course, fix up the engine and all. It is red and black in color.

Out here that would set you back anywhere from $6-12K, depending on condition. Without seeing photos I couldn't tell you.

Re: A new Camaro maybe??

Well they had done some research and according to some pirce guide, with the condition it is in, the book said $6500 at low point. I offered $3500 if they can not get that. So we will see. Again, the interior needs a lot of work. Engine runs good, but really dirty. Trunk looks like it might of had a little rust, but didn't see inside of it as there were no keys for the car. SO at this point, I am probably still just looking. No realy hurry. Going to look at a '79 Z28 on Saturday and will just probably keep my eyes open.

Yeah, ever since the big-dollar auction houses got in business, everybody thinks their junk is worth a million bucks.

If you want a rust-free 1980 Trans Am, I know where there's one for sale in Saginaw, Michigan for about $2000. It needs paint and some interior work, but it's equipped with a built 1973 Pontiac 350 so half the battle is won...

Re: A new Camaro maybe??

Would rather stick to Camaro. Thanks though. And also wouldn't want to go half way across the country for one either. There are a few that pop up around here in the Northwest that I guess I will just have to keep my eye on. Like I said, not really in a rush. If anyone is close by here and they see something reasonably priced, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks much for all the feedback thus far.

Re: A new Camaro maybe??

6500 is still a good rpice for that particular car. I have a 70-1/2 RS that does not have the z-28 option and I would not let mine go for less than 23,000 Of coarse that is what I have put into it over the years so that is why my price is what it is.

I got $1500 for a primered (rust free) shell of a 71 with no engine/trans... If you land that car for $2k I will be impressed.
