It needs to be faster.

The 67 needs to be faster, i just don't feel it pulling like it should.

It has headers, a cam of some sort, im not sure what though...

Im basically at zero, any suggestions other than twin turbo or supercharging, to get this beast fast as all hell?

Re: It needs to be faster.

Since you want it to be really fast, your gonna have to pull the engine and have it rebuilt to specific specs. You didn't mention all the parts it has other than headers and carb so I am assuming you pretty close to stock or just a bit higher. If you want to put some power to the ground properly, have the engine built to put out what power you want. You'll probably need aftermarket heads. There are engine builders that sell complete engines that make around 450 HP and sell for under $4000. That's expensive but HP isn't cheap.

Or, rebuild yours to low comp. and ad a supercharger or turbo system.

Your options are endless !!!

Re: It needs to be faster.

Really need to know the cam specs, which heads, stall on the converter. If you have a big cam in there, stock smog heads, and a stock converter, it will be a dog.

The smog heads will choke off things right when a big cam starts to get into into it's power peak (plus kill compression with the big chambers), while the big cam kills low end torque, which combined with the stock converter, results in blah acceleration.

Heads along the lines of TFS 23* units, a cam like the Comp Cams 268XE (or maybe the 274XE), and a 3,000 stall will get your 67 into the low 13's/high 12's.

If that isn't enough, you need more cubes or a power adder.

Re: It needs to be faster.

Thanks for the info, its actually a newer engine but i haven't been able to pull the vin off it, and i really do need to open it up and see what it has in it, it does have a stall converter, when i took it into the shop, i think he said it was set at 6000, ill start shopping sround for new heads and a cam, any info on what kind of headers, pulleys, anything else to get it up smoking. What about getting it stroked?? and from what ive been told getting the gears set up in the rear may help as well, advantages to 4:10, disadvantages??

And my ultimate goal is to one day have it twin turbo, i am but a lonely sales boy at comp usa, so it might take a while. actually it will probably take forever.

Re: It needs to be faster.

if it dosent have much of a cam throw that 750 away go to a 600 or 650
you are over carbed for a 350 with not much done its a classic mistake

Re: It needs to be faster.

It actually has a lot to do with it. If you're crusing at 3000 rpm vs say 2000 rpm, you're going to use more gas. When I switched from a TH350 to a TH700R4, I literally doubled my gas mileage. And I only have a 3.42 axle ratio. Granted some of it was from the new lockup converter, but a lot of it was simply due to a lower cruising RPM.

Re: It needs to be faster.

my suggestion: Crate engine. Then have your tranny built. make sure you know your cam lobes. And finally a rear end......

Re: It needs to be faster.

I would get a set of sportsman2 heads 2.02 and a .600 lift roller cam and some eagle rods and eagle steel crank and some je pistons a 150 shot of nos and you will be in the 10's and still be ble to drive it on the street.

Re: It needs to be faster.

So when i do decide to get the new heads and cam and rollers and what not, will that make the 750 a little less useless?
