Post Need a recipe for a 455.

Anyone know of an engine builder or a good website that could give me a recipe (manifold, heads, cam, etc) to build a 455 Pontiac to put down approx. 550 hp???

Or does anyone here have any advice on a combo?? This engine would need to be able to handle a 150-200 hp shot of nitrous also.

I'm looking to get my 78 in the 10 sec. range at 4,500 feet of elevation.

Any input is appreciated.

Performance years is a good source.

With the NOS shot you definitely want forged pistons and probably better than stock rods and crank. The original parts are good as long as you keep them under 5500 rpms, but I wouldn't recommend hitting them with NOS.

I am currently building a 455, .060 over, stock crank and rods, ARP hardware, 6x-8 heads milled to about 91cc, home port and polish, headers, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Holley 750 vacuum sec carb, Lunati Bracket Master II cam, roller timing chain, and a melling high volume oil pump. I am anticipating around 550hp and tons of torque. If you can get that to hook up you could easily be in the 10s without the NOS. I'm anticipating a low 11 or high 10 out of my full street 69 Firebird on drag radials.
