ok its a ford 87 5.0 I took off the valve cover to throttle body hose off cause it was filling the intake with oil then i noticed all the oil/smoke pouring out so i capped it off
wrong thing to do it pressurized the valve covers and blew the gaskets out now it leaks on the headers anyway it never smokes out the tailpipes what is this and how to stop it

Re: massive blow by
i know the gaskets. but its a pcv valve..... wait it does not have one just a straight hose from filler to tb. just put on inline? and are they all the same? also this will stop the oil filling up the t/b?

They are not the same, and yes it will stop the oil filling up the throttle body, thats what a PCV valve does. if the insides break down you will start filling the throttle body. Make sure you get the right PCV for your car, otherwise it wont fit. And yes, all you need is a vacuum line from the PCV to your T/B

My friend had the same problem with the 5.0 in his crown vic, If I remember correctly the hose itself for the pcv was clogged and caused the the crankcase to pressurize and blow out the valve cover and oil pan gaskets
