which intake manifold to buy - sbc

got a buddy with a 72 vette with a 350sbc in it. There's not much room under the hood so we need to find a good, but not tall, intake manifold that will support about 400rwhp up until about 5,800rpms. Give me suggestions for a good yet short intake manifold..

My mechanic was telling me to get a drop base air cleaner, but then I just read an article from car craft that said the more room above the carb the better, meaning that the low profile air cleaners really hurt the power made

Welcome to the hobby of trying to go fast!

A Eddy Performer should be ok in performance and height, but chances are you will have to buy a drop base just b/c of what your working on...a 'vette w/ no hood clearance.

A low single plane will work but on an engine thats only turning less than 6 grand your pissing in the wind. Streetability goes down as does the torque, which is all the fun!

The VicJr has been proven time and time again to give up very little in low rpm performance. Its only just slightly bigger than a TorquerII. What you give up is plenum heat which can drastically affect driveability until the engine completely warms up.
