Indentifying a GM Crate Engine
Indentifying a GM Crate Engine
I've purchased a Camaro with a GM 350 Crate Engine in it. The seller couldn't tell me which model of the engine it is. Does anyone know how to ID one of these?
Here is the specifics:
Code on Passenger's Side Front Pad
1MO926
2VP
Casting Number on Drivers Side Rear
10066036
HENCHO EN MEXICO
My guess: it was built in Mexico
Date Stamp on Drivers Side Rear
2 dial type stamps and 01
My guess: it was build in 2001
The heads have the old style valve covers with bolts on the sides.
Driver's side of the block between cylinders
01H 16
Passenger's side of the block between cylinders
A1H 16
Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Indentifying a GM Crate Engine
My source says:
10066036...350...........2 or 4 bolt RMS...Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear seal, "Hecho en Mexico"
You need to pull the valve cover and find the casting # between the front or rear 2 set of valves if you want some specs on the heads.

Re: Indentifying a GM Crate Engine
I forgot to mention that the engine seems to have about a medium street cam in it. Putting the information from the reply together with the cam, I'd guess it to be the 330 HP 350 crate engine, if it were not for the old valve covers. Does anyone know it GM sold a crate engine equivalent to the 330 HP 350 in 2001, that used the old valve covers?
thanks much,
