Installing 3 point seat belt on 68 coupe?
Installing 3 point seat belt on 68 coupe?
I'd like to install 3 point seat belts in my 68 coupe. Specifically, I'm considering kits like the one below:

Retractable Lap Belt w/Shoulder Harness
Does anyone have any experience on such as upgrade that they'd like to share?
thanks,

Most of this should be obvious, the lap belt is no problem, it bolts into the original mounting holes. The shoulder belt has a nice cover so should look ok. The only concern is the shoulder mount. Cars that came with shoulder belts as original equipment have the area around the mount bolt reinforced, your cars does not. So your going to have to get some extra metal welded into the mount location and maybe even reinforce the entire door post.
In 1969 I was in a minor accident in my new 69 Camaro convertible, no shoulder belt. I broke my jaw on the steering wheel even thow I was wearing my lap belt. How much is your face worth?

I just bought non retractable 3 point belts from Wehsco Performance ($35.90 each including hardware). I'm going to attempt to install them in my '69 convertible. I have seen old GM drawings of where they're supposed to bolt up. I believe that this was an option (although somewhat rare) in '69.
I went with non retractable because I doubt there's any way to mount the retractable unit in a convertible.
So, if anyone has any helpful hints on this project, please let me know.

The guy knew the roof mount needed a special 2 bolt adapter to mount to the stock mounts, and they made the adapter. Finally, the guy told me that roof adaptor had a 6 inch extension to make sure the belts fit correct. The company was

At a cost of $199.95 it will have to wait a while, but I'll update everyone if I buy them.
