How to remove Cam bearing/seal?
How to remove Cam bearing/seal?
I dont know the correct term, but its the first metallic "seal" that is on the block, when you slide the cam in place. It has a few scars in it, and I want to replace it, when the new cam goes in. What is the easiest way to get it out?
Re: How to remove Cam bearing/seal?
First off the bearing are not seals, two different things. You have four bearing 1,2,3,4, front to back. It's not unusual for the #1 bearing to get some small scratches while removing and installing cams. If the bearing is not worn and only has small scratches it shouldn't be a problem at all.
The correct way to remove them is with a cam. bearing removal/installation tool. Though I think the #1 could be done with a good "standard" bearing removal/installation tool. Also these have oiling holes that have to be in the correct location.

I see no reason that the bearing cann't be pulled. As long as you have a good quality puller of the proper size. Has far as alignment, I would just clean the block and use a marker to indicate the locations.
