How to open the darn hood!?!?

Im kinda frustrated, I cant open this darn hood.

I've got a 1969 GTO. It should be the same for all old GM cars...

I pop it with the thing under the front bumper, it gets caught on that latch. I cant seem to find out hwo to pop it without it getting caught!

Please give me the directions, I cant seem to get it working!

ON those you either have to hold the lever while opening the hood (like my camaro). Some Gm cars you had to pull the lever, let it pop up then pull it again and lift the hood. If those fail you are going to have to deal with the problem (bent hook etc). Also look for a hood lock, maybe thats whats holding you up. I added one on my camaro to keep my underhood stuff underhood.

I'd say try aligning your hook. They do get bent sometime and catch or not catch, as was my case a few time.

On my '77, I have to pull on the hood release under the grill, and while still pulling, pull up on the hood with the other hand.

I had the same trouble when I first got my Chevelle. Ahh the wonders of ancient auto technology and young minds.

if the hook is screwy you could get someone to push down on the hood while you pop the latch. If that doesn't work...if all else fails, break it and order a new latch. That's my motto when working with mine...if it don't work...make it work or break it.
