how much do i weigh
right now i have a TH350 with a shift kit and trans cooler. The rear suspension is mono leaf springs, traction bars, and a 10 bolt with 4.10:1 gearing
it also has 255/45/17 tires on now. going to put in either a power or manual rack for steering.other crap on it now:
flowmaster super 40's
3" exhaust
long tube headers
big block radiator
electric fans
MSD wires, 6AL box, 8.8 wires, Blaster HVC coil
MSD distributor
kind of a custom interior..... has the 6 autometer gauges in the factory looking dash piece. think i got it from yr1. GS1 seats, 5 point harness, Alpine head unit with alpine speakers (4). megashifter (ratchet kind)
forgetting a lot....will get pics and full report once the new motor is in and everything is back together
future:
mini-tubs
muti-spring
moser 12 bolt
295+ rear tires
t56 trans (long way from now)
coil-over front shocks with tubular control arms
low 11's high 10's.....would be VERY happy with 10.999. once the warrenty on the motor is gone ill get some spary of some kind of forced induction.
Well mine weighs around 3250 with the fold down rear seats. That's with draglites, they are lighter than steel wheels. If you want to go 10.99's you can do it with out spray or mini tubs. Cal tracs with drag radials and the front suspension set up you mentioned will work. With spray and depending on how much spray, you can go anywhere from low 10's to high 9's.
The th350 will work fine and with the cal tracs you will be able to get air under the front tires when leaving. Just make sure you select the right stall for your car's set up. There's a ton of information about suspension set ups over on camaro.net Here is a thread aout cals http://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...ight=cal-tracs

I have a first gen and I have had it on the scales. I am not sure what yours would weigh.
All of the above can be true, there are so many combos
Mine was 3690#w/me (I'm 200 wearing helmet and gear), a 10point steel cage, with the GS1 seats (90lbs), SB alum heads, I/C Procharger, a 9" rear, all steel body w/heater, full interior,16" wheels & radial tires.
Then I removed,
Heater, wipers, fender braces, other misc. -30lb
Went to a glass hood & inner fender wells. -60
Ladder bars w/coil overs (leaf springs& bars, heavy) -80
19# clutch and flywheel.... -30
15" wheels and drag tires...-50
Wilwood drag type frt discs. -43
It now scales 3395 (48.5% rear 51.5% front) with me and those heavy
a$$ seats, full int, 12 gal fuel in a stainless (heavy
) tank, Global west arms and QA1 coil overs. So I've still got some work to do
I wan't to wish you luck on your new motor and let us know how that first track test goes
Things may need tweeking as you go, but if you keep it under 3450 w/you and make an honest 500hp with good traction you will reach your goal.

call me a dork but...
Found this link, it reminded me of my 10th grade geom. teacher who weight a car in this manner @ an engineering job interview. I'm gonna try it on my bird right now.
http://http://www.5min.com/Video/how...-your-car-4115
Results... roughly 3330lbs w/ the spare w/o the driver... shouldn't yours be lighter if it's a sbc not a pontiac?

The weight on your title is probably the GVWR which is the car with four passengers, full load of cargo and full of gas.
