How to make more HP out of a ZZ430??

I'm having my car built right now from Gearhead Garage in Sacramento Ca, and I have already bought the ZZ430 motor, my question is how can I make even more HP out of this? I heard the Airgap manifold might help some, but what are the other improvments that I can make to bring this motor to life.I do have the Hot cam and rollers, but wanted to know how to boost the power levels while still being streetable.

Thanks in advance
Mike

P.S sorry about the double post, I was told that my other post in the LS1 area is the wrong one to post in for this :-)

More camshaft and compression. There's no reason you can't see 500hp. A Problem with the FastBurn heads is getting an intake manifold with ports that have a large enough cross section. All of the Vortec compatible intake manifolds have VERY small ports to match perfectly with the Iron Vortec production heads.

Edelbrock's Super Victor Vortec has a 2.6" cross section compared to a normal Vic jr or Super Vic which is 2.8". I have ported E-Tec 200 heads with a very large cross section and it doesn't match the Super Vic Vortec ports at all. Severe port work will be needed to match them up. If you're willing to do that...go for it. Aim for 11.0:1 compression a much more aggressive hyd. roller camshaft along with a properly ported Super Victor Vortec intake and you'll be well beyond 500hp.

The Air Gap RPM would be great also. It will produce 20-40lb-ft of torque more than a Super Vic up to 5000rpm. After that the Super Vic pulls ahead. If you cam the engine to spin well past 6000rpm, a Super Vic is the way to go. If not, the Air Gap RPM is perfect and won't dissapoint.

Find a good connection to match your heads to either intake and you'll be set. Cam and compression can be more fine tuned by a machinist or builder.

I reccomend all that but honestly, I ditched that idea and bought Dart Pro 1 230cc heads with a Super Vic Intake and called it a day. It's an out of the box combo that matches very well and suited my cubic inch/Compression ratio needs really well.

Yeah I heard that the Air Gap could raise my power output by like 10 to 15 hp. I take it you agree with this? I have yet to put a carb on it, and was told that a demon is the best choice, but wanted to get other people's opinion on the carb set up. I'm very curious how this setup will feel in a modded 67 camaro with a Tremic TKO-600 tranny with 3.73 gears. I'm just sort of curious of the cars that I could beat theoretically in a straght line.

If we were talking about NON-Vortec bolt pattern heads I'd agree but Comparing the GMPP Dual Plane that comes on the ZZ385/430 engines to a Vortec Air Gap RPM is hard to do. I wonder how small the port size is on the GMPP intake? If they're the same, then the Air Gap would be a worthwhile investment. A Significantly more agressive camshaft along with a Super Vic Vortec intake would bring even more top end power to the game.

My similar combo ran fine with a Demon 750 DP and I'd reccomend it since it's a great price. I actually need to get rid of mine along with it's Demon specific fuel line if you're interested. Less than 1000miles driving time. I went to a Holley HP from Pro Systems because I went with more cubic inches. PM me if you're interested.

It should scoot along with any modern day EFI sports car with that kind of power but honestly...Yours is a 67 CAMARO. If it had 160hp it would still be awesome.

Yeah I was told that the Demon is the way to go for that motor, and that the air gap would help. I'm interested in the demon. Ill e-mail you in a bit. Thanks again
