how do you make a 377?
never mind, just found answer on a piston site... fyi, the 377 is a 400 bored .030 or a 4.155 bore with 3.48" 350 crank. stock bore on 400 sbc is 4.125. dammit, this means the motor i was thinking of buying HAS been bored unlike the owner said. oh well, no big deal i guess but he was WRONG.

377 is a good term for identifying a destroked 400 motor. If it was stock bored and he called it a 372 then it would be harder for you to figure out what that is.
Or he may just be wrong
he claims it's a destroked 400. so i'm going to get the casting #s of the block and doublecheck. ok, so a 372 is stock bore 400 with 350 crank. good to know. thx this is a street/strip motor built for nitrous so i guess he wanted to wind it out and not have too much torque for the street, hence the destroke. i'm tempted to pull it apart and make a 400 or 406, whatever it is.
On the contrary. Building a 377 is a high revving alternative to the 383. It will still make all the torque you can get out of a 383 and then some, but with more high end horsepower.
Depending on your intended use you might want to consider using it. Don't get me wrong, there is no replacement for displacement, but if you are on a budget that is not a bad motor to have.
