Or if you want to treat yourself, how about a pair of AFR 195s? Fully assembled they'll set you back $1275, but they're wickedly good heads.
Believe me I have looked at both the Trick Flows and the AFR heads, and I almost went with the Trick Flows. But I think the intake runners are somewhat on the large side, I'm afraid it's gonna kill my bottomend?

How much HP will I be able to extract from a regular Edelbrock Performer intake?

So far I've found out that they have 1.94/1.50 valves and the chambers are 76 cc. This type of head was presumably produced either between 75-85 or 79-85 (seems to be some doubt there).
My final aim with my tune-up project is 400 hp and around 350-360 lb-ft torque to go with that. Are these heads gonna stand up to this?

P.S. Yes the rearspoiler is going to go!
If you are looking to make around 400 horse and willing to spend a little money then holley sells a full top end kit for small chevy called systamax 2. It includes alum. heads matched intake and cam timing set push rods and ARP head bolts. the heads have 67cc combustion chambers and 2.02 valves. Holley claims 425 horse on a 10.0 to 1 comp. zero decked 350. I went this way and I have been really pleased.

Edelbrock has to RPM package that claims over 400 hp too. I've just found that I get more for less $ by matching the components myself.

I agree. I herd that the Edelbrock cam is on the conservative side and the combo works better with a "hotter" cam. People are making over 450 HP this way.

That Edelbrock cam is a reealllly old grind. It's specs are something like .488/.510 with 244/254 degrees at .050". The lift is small and the duration is HUUUUGE. You'd make a lot more power going with a Comp Cams Xtreme 286 or 292, get better gas mileage, better drivability, and a lot less lope.

No matter what heads you go with, you need to chunk that Performer manifold and get a Performer RPM, so plan on spending another 200 bucks for that.

The TFS heads and the Edelbrock heads both come in at just under $1000 bucks, and both are awesome heads, so you really can't go wrong with either one. Either way though, I'd suggest an aftermarket cam (like Crane or Comp Cams) and a Performer RPM intake (can't beat it if you plan on driving your car on the street). Also, both of those aluminum heads and the Vortecs will bump your compression up to a much better level, but remember, if you end up with 10:1 with Vortecs, you're going to need a decent sized cam to run that much compression. With aluminum heads, that shouldn't be a problem.

I think Holley is still building heads because I bought there systamax 2 kit for small chevy not long ago. The cam that comes with it is a 292 dur. lunati and it seems to work very well. It has a little bit of a lope but not to bad for the street.
