Angry headliner

The headliner in my 69 camaro has started to rip along one of the seams. Is this fixable or do I need another headliner. How hard is it to install, shops around my town are going to charge me around $225-$300, to install it.

I did mine in my 68, it wasn't that bad.
Make sure to mark the bows, and the holes they were in, when you take it out. There are 2 or 3 holes for each bow, and it will NOT go back in if you get them wrong! You'll need a hair dryer to help it stretch, and some 3M weatherstrip adhesive.
Most of the headliner kits come with excellent instructions, or you could look around and find a how-to.

thanks

hey thanks for the information. I think I might try doing it myself. One shop said they would have to pull the front windshield as well as the rear window to get it in? I've never heard of that. Thanks

Actually thats not all that uncommon...the headliner tucks under the trim around those windows, and in order to stretch them properly, it has to be done through the window openings

I would be so scared to do that myself for fear of broken glass. The 79 headliners are easy-all it is is cardboard. That sure is expensive to fix a headliner! Id save up some money!
