Headers and clearance issues

My Z has been in storage for the last 11 years and I finally have the $ to put some work in it. I'm going to get a ZZ-4 w/Edelbrock intake to start. In picking headers that will fit, what has been your experience with a brand that will clear everything without issue? Some footnotes in certain header catalogs note that they will not fit with Saganaw close-ratio steering. Is this what I have in my Z? How can I tell?

My dad's '73 Camaro has Hedman headers (1-3/4" primaries) and they fit like a glove. Since there is no real difference between the 2nd-gen cars, I know they will fit on your '80 just fine. I also had headers on my '81, but I don't know what brand they were.............my dad got them from his friend years ago, and gave them to me to put on my car................God, what would I do without that guy!!). I don't imagine there would be any serious issues fitting any headers on your car, unless (obviously) otherwise stated by the manufacturer.

hedman D port shorties. because of the ZZ4's cylinder heads. Also will fit if you have a 4 speed.

Do you mean p/n HED-68276? I didn't see anything referring to "shorties". If I'm going to run 2.5" pipe, is it okay that the primaries are 3" or should I find primaries with 2.5" diameter?
