Smile Fuel Tank Paint??????

Hi
I have a 69 Z28 and had a question on replacing the fuel tank. Is the tank have anything on it, Paint, undercoating, or just plain out of the box. The one in it went bad and I want to make it correct. If paint would powder coating be better but would it affect the tank from the baking?

Thank You in advance for the help,

FZR600

I would clear coat it (with a hight temp. clear coat).

VHT makes them in rattle cans.
That's what I'm gonna do with this year's winter project.

when i bought my car the previous owner had put some form of undercoating on it, only on the bottom of the tank.... when we took the tank out the top looked like crap. So if you are gonna coat it with anything, do the whole thing. We painted ours black as we did with the whole frame and underbody.

I used Eastwood's "Tank Tone" on mine.
