A lot of you have mentioned that if the car isn't rare or numbers-matching, you shouldn't be worried about mixing parts to make it more to your liking.

A lot of you have also said that it's often a good idea to find a plain-jane coupe with a straight, rust-free body, if you're planning on doing modifications.

Because of this, I'm assuming that if a person plans on doing some pretty heavy mods (like replacing the suspension or putting in an LT1), the best route to take is to look for a base coupe with a solid body?

There's nothing special about the RS/SS/Z28 cars that can't be replicated by the aftermarket?

Think about it... the cars you're talking about were built in the late 60's. Pretty much anything that you can get aftermarket now blows away the technology that was available back then, so a base coupe'll do you just fine if you want a mean street machine. You even get a bonus with the plane jane coup, a 327, which is in my opinion way cooler than a 350 Now if you can pick up an SS with a 396 in it that could be some fun.

didn't they have abs on the Hotchkis and Year one cars? I dunno if they did, but it'd be sweet.

The "Innovator" 69 Camaro from Year One supposively has abs. I'm not sure how well it works though.

I like doing the Smokey and the Bandit style powerslides myself...I don't do it often, but it's fun as hell to lock up the rear brakes and spin sideways into a turn. I don't condone doing that by the way.

ABS conversion kits were available 12 years ago when I had my 68 RS. They were hot for a while and then they died off. In all honesty, ABS is great for a street car, but most race setups have the ABS disconnected or have an "off" switch. (Better control.)

FWIW, My 67 RS has the front disc conversion and stock rear drums. Maybe its just me, but IMO it stops better than my 95 Z/28 with 4-wheel discs and ABS.
