engine wont start hot....
Hi!
I have a problem with my engine. It wont start when it's hot.
Starter turns the engine but it wont fire up.
When it cools off (30 min), it starts without any problem.
What could be the problem?
Engine: Chevy SB 383 stroker, Demon carburetor, mallory ingition (10 degree at 800 RPM),...
thanks...

Re: engine wont start hot....
agreed, if the coil is indeed external, and you have a points distributor, id check the coil and the points.
if its an HEI distributor, the built in ignition module may be going bad, when they get hot they tend to do that

Re: engine wont start hot....
yep, that's most likely problem
other stuff that may be happening... if that isnt it...
check your carb out, she might be percolating and flooding out once she's shut down hot, and then when you try and start her back up she needs to sit and leave that gas vaporize
otherwise, if it's an electric choke it may be malfunctioning, or your plug wires might be dead too
usually hot starting issues are caused by a really hot and dead starter, if it is turning over too slow to start that might be it too, in which case retard the timing a couple degrees until it turns over fast enough, and then if that's the problem buy a high torque, header compatible, starter
