It depends on what kind of power you want and how much $$ you want to spend.

Mild: http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...tart&catid=130

Medium: http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...id=120&pid=115

HOT: http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...120&pid=156334

Then you have your SICK motors...BBC!! Or build a nice 406sbc and kick @ss!!

BTW, don't go with sidepipes. Stick with 2.5" duals with good mufflers.

Check out nastyz28.com. Great site for 2nd gen. Camaros!!!

Depends on your budget and planned usage. The 350 is going to be the cheapest and will give good power. You can install a 400 crank to make it a 383 (you will need to use the 400 rods or use a special piston and 350 rods). You can goto the 400 and get great torque, but it will run a little hotter than a 350 block. Finally, for more a race engine, you can goto a 377 (400 block and 350 crankshaft).

I have had all four in the past. IMO the 383 is the best bang for the buck for a street engine.

from the sites you gave me, the 383 looks like a good deal. i like the power it puts out. do you know if there is any difference in the bolt patterns or mounts? why are the side pipes a bad idea?

FWIW, I'm in the process of putting that motor in one of my 67 coupes. It's for a daily driver.

the 350 doesnt seem to be enough for me. i like the daily drive, but i also want to win a few of the races. the 383 is more in my price range but that zz502 would be grand. i just dont know if the mounts will match

They usually look like crap, unless you're driving a Viper, or the ZZ Top car.

A 383 or 400 will bolt right in place of a 350. Only specific parts different are the external balance flexplate & dampener that are needed with these engines. Unless you pop extra $$$ to have the rotating assemblies internally balanced. But motor mounts, tranny pattern, intake, headers, etc, are compatible off your 350.

Here's another way to go on the engine opptions: A 425 HP 383 from Dallas Export Sales/ It's less than $4K.
http://www.strokermotor.com/383425LB.htm

They also make a turn key version with everything from carb to oil pan for a little over $5K.
