Post cylinder heads opinion

I have a re-built 350 with a competition cams camshaft (nothing too wild, but it definently likes to rev), edelbrock 600 cfm carb with an Edelbrock Performer Intake. Unfortunently, I'm stuck with a set of iron heads with horrible flow, probaly 192s. This is definently holding back the cam's potential. Anyway, I might have a chance at a set of the aluminum Edelbrock Performer heads that are already ported for about $1g. However, I've also read up on the Fastburn heads that are supposed to be incredible, but I believe they go for over $1200. Anyone have an opinion on any of these heads. Should I also step up to a bigger carb (750?) and a better intake manifold (Performer RPM?) Any advice would be great.

your really going to need to change rearend gears to take advantage of the additional airflow.

But, I would not go with performer rpms unless you can look at flownumbers and they are in the 275+ range.
You can get all kinds of heads for 600-900 that will flow from 250-265 on ebay.

Oh yeah, the 2.73s are definently on their way out, but my camaro was my daily driver for over a year and a half an in that time I racked up over 30,000 miles. With 89 octane around $2.00 for awhile, I was glad to be able to knock down almost 16 mpg with the gears. I don't even want to imagine what a set of 4.10s would have done on my everyday freeway commute. Now I have a commuter though so I'm definently looking around for a good 10 or 12 bolt. However, the deal on the Performer heads isn't going to last long so I thought I would get those first if they were worthy. Thanks for the info on shopping around though. The Fastburn heads are still of interest to me though since a magazine did a dyno test and they managed to pull 60-70 hp more than a set of Vortechs on the same engine. This isn't even factoring in the weight differance between the two sets. If anyone has any experiance with these I'd be glad to hear. If I remember correctly, they were fashioned from a set of fully ported Corvette heads, but I not sure what kind. This would mean that it is at it's fullest potential then right?

I don't personally have experience with them but the guys at the machine/speed shop I buy my parts from wouldn't let me even consider buying them. I forget exactly why they don't like them but they had their reasons. For 1200, you can get some really nice heads from a different aftermarket company
