This is what happens when you try and get a stock drivetrain to hold 500+ horsepower. Click the link and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Damn, right in half! Holy crap. I can't imagine what it would be like to try to make a pass, hear a gigantic BOOM!, and find that!

Cool

The good thing was it happened while on the dyno so everything just fell to the ground with little damage to the underside of the car. The bad thing is that it happened while doing a tuning pull when I stepped on it from a 55 mph roll and it was just entering the power curve. I didn't even get to do a full dyno run

Breaking stuff sucks, but, when the broken stuff is a demonstration of big power, it's kinda cool

Congrats and that sucks!

It does suck, but I have gained some local fame down at the dyno shop though. I'm now the guy who actually did that to the driveshaft on the wall.

D@mn !

that's the second driveshaft I saw recently that was twisted in half! I hope this isn't a sign of what's waiting for me.
My engine is putting out around 500 hp at the flywheel and the tranny and driveshaft are stock !!!
We will have to wait and see.....

I guess I'll install my driveshaft loop that is sitting on my shelf in the garage !

thanks for the story! and nice car!

yup, I've heard that ~500hp is about the limit for a stock 'shaft.
'dats gotta suck, though...

But, hey, now you can get a cool light driveshaft and all. Look in circle-track catalogs, they seem to have some pretty good prices.
