Centerlines

Okay, im in the negotiation stages of trading my cragars for centerlines.
Now what i need to know is...how big of a tire can i fit in the back under the wheel well. Its a 15 inch rim thats 8.5 inches deep for the back and a 15 inch by 7 for the front.
I have decided that 225/70/15 would be in the front.
and for the back either a 255/60/15 or 265/60/15. They aren't deep dish wheels. Regular centerlines.
here's an prime example

EXACTLY.!!!
Also, I can get mickey thompson Sportsman tires with the deal or my choice of a performance tire like BFG or Firestone.
Tell me what you guys think i should do but im leaning towards the M/T's BABY!!!

Cool

Those Centerlines are nice, although I still like Cragar SS too.

As for what size will fit under the back? My dad's '73 has a set of 275/60/15's mounted on 8" Chev "Rally" rims, and they're a nice big looking tire for a street tire. I don't know if a 295 would fit, but the 275 looks good IMO. Check out the pics for the '73 in my sig.........the rims have been repainted since the picture, and we've ordered new tires, but you can see the look.

BTW: what year is your car?? I think you have a 2nd gen right?

I have 295-50-15's on the back of mine on 10" rim w/5" backspace. A little over an inch of clearance to inside, not much clearnce to outside, even with rolled lip. But it only rubs on big bumps.

I'm running a 275/60R/15 On Weld Pro Stars with an 8" rim in the back, 15x3" in the front. My car is lowered and I have okay clearance for that size a tire. If you stay with the 8.5" rim, you shouldnt have any issues with running a 275/60 under the back end.

You could also try Angel's setup with the 295 and 10" rim deal. That would look gnarly as heck under the back of a 2nd gen.

I would go with 255/60/15's, thats what I have on my 8.5" centerline convo pros, and some times they make contact with the fenderlip I have already replaced one due to the contact.

81camaro - thats probably happening because you do not have enough backspacing on your wheel. A 255/60 should be no problem. If its rubbing the wheel has too little backspacing. I have a 275/60 and my car is lowered to boot, and it does not rub.

I don't know what the backspacing availability is like on the Centerlines. I have 15x8 Weld ProStars with 275/60. If I'm not mistaken, my backspacing is 4.5". I bought the car with the Welds already on.
