Carb Question...

When I look at my carb and open the throttle wide open the secondaries dont open up. How do I fix this problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Re: Carb Question...

Depending on the carb, that might be normal. What type of carb, if Holley, what is the list #?

Re: Carb Question...

Those are Vacuum secondries.. IIRC those are only supposed to open once the vacuum reaches a certain point and the car is under load... otherwise they should not open...

Re: Carb Question...

Is it an older Rochester or is it a Q-Jet
If it's a Q-Jet then it depends on witch throttle blades your looking at. The Q-Jet have two sets of secondary blades. there is one set on the bottom with the primary ones which do open as you open the throttle all the way, the top set are the ones that open with vac.
On the bottom set there is a little lever that keeps them from opening unless the choke is fully open.
To check to see if the bottom ones open, hold the choke open all the way, hold the top secondries open then look down through the carb and see if the bottom ones open as you move the throttle open
