cam size help needed
My brother in law needs help in picking a cam as he doesnt know what to get. Keep in mind this will go in an airboat but post your response for the cam for the motor specs I posted.
The specs of the engine are as followed:
350 chevy block witha 400 crank making it a 383
Holley 800 carb
Fuelly head shaved 10 deg
10.5/1 pistons before the head shave
He wants max running rpm to be 5600
Right now he says it has a "low torque camper cam for 3,000 rpm"
Prop is a 2 blade carbon fiber witha 2:1 gear reduction
Has headers running to bullet mufflers.
Airboat is a 2 seater if that matters.
What would be the best cam to get?
Thanks for your help.

Airboats are like other boats with long periods at WOT, or what? Most cams specced out for marine use have relatively low lift and acceleration rates to preserve durability. Is that needed in this application? Flat or roller, solid or hydraulic?

I know nothing about cams. I wouldnt say long periods of WOT maybe a few minutes max at a time.
I posted this on an airboat forum but posted it here to get a another suggestion

Call Comp Cams or any other cam company. If it were me, I'd run an ExtremeEnergy 268Marine cam. It is very similar to the x268 except it has 112 LSA vs 110 for the street cam. Mellows out the idle and gives it a broader, flatter power band. But call them just the same.
