Buddy just bought a 77 camaro, what power does it have?
Hey fellas!
My buddy just traded his pos car for a gorgeous 1977 red camaro. It has a 305 in it , and appears to be modded quite nicely. It has a four barrel carb on it, and we were just wondering what kind of power to expect? It sounds very lopey at idle, like it has a dif. cam in it. Under the hood, it is spotless with chrome this and that ( it was at 10.30 tonite when I saw it firsthand ) Thanks gusy!

lets see.. stock its
1977 Engine & Drivetrain Info
CID Config Bore & Stroke BHP @ RPM Torque @ rpm Comp Carb.
LG-3 305 V-8 3.736 x 3.48 145 @ 3800 245 @ 2400 8.5:1 2V
so anywhere from 145hp - 500hp
245-500 ftlbs of toruqe
if heads were changed, cam, intake, headers, probably 300 i would figure. All depends what was changed since to start off these things were really weak.
1 interesting side note 1977 was the 1st year Camaro outsells the Mustang!!!

There is no way to tell what kind of power its producing w/out more info. It being a 305, probably not much unless the guy knew what he was doing. You can't just throw parts at it like a lot of people do w/ 350s and get decent power gains. I've seen a lot of them over carbed and over cammed.
