Anyone had a smoke problem with a zz4?

Anyone had a smoke problem with a zz4?

Friend can get a deal on a zz4-385,dealer installed it, had white smoke when run,they yanked it and put another in.Now i know all the things it could be, but before i tear into it i want to see if anyone had a problem with any of theirs.Ive done 2 no hiccups whatsoever, im looking for TSBs on it right now no luck.Thanks!

The ZZ4 is a very reliable engine. GM has not upgraded this engine since 1996 because all known issues in the ZZZ family (ZZZ, ZZ1, ZZ2 and ZZ3) from 1989 to 1996 were all addressed in the ZZ4.

White smoke indicates either a failed headgasket or crack somewhere allowing coolant into the combustion chamber.

he got it anyway,tearing down tues looks like head gasket,no TSB problems for zz series must just be a fluke,ill find out soon.
