79 Z28 starter need help

Oaky got a problem. Driving down the road, stop at stop light, car died. Got juice, got connections to everything I can still hear my music. Makes a large clunk when I turn over followed by a high pitched whine, any ideas? Think it's the starter but not sure, if is, how much and how easy fix? Thanks.

Yup your starter is fried.... Not that hard to replace, just unbolt the wires then unbolt the starter from the bell housing, only a few bolts, the only big issue is what kind of exhaust you've got depending on the type it can be quite a pain getting the starter past the pipes... But not that hard of a repair, and for your car there pretty cheap.

Thanks for the info, glad to know it won't be that hard to accomplish.

I'm not doubting it's your starter....
But your car shouldn't just die at a stop light, and if it did, it has nothing to do with the starter...
You might have two different problems.

yeah, but he needs to put a starter in it to even try to diagnose the stalling problem
