Exhaust suggestions

Right now I have hooker 2 1/2" headers going into true dual Flowmasters with 2 chamber mufflers (no cats). I think it's too quiet... so is there any other good suggestions on a type of true dual straight pipe that isnt obnoxiously loud since it is a daily driver.. but still has a good growl?

Re: Exhaust suggestions

Sounds like you need mufflers like GMMG's or bullets or something? You know, straight through style, not the great big oval shaped things that typical mufflers are. I think that the GMMG's are just like a resonator or something...not really "baffled" like a typical muffler?

You can always run open dumps though!!!

I just need something that gives a good bite to it, but possibly idles smoothly. No cherry bombs or anything. Loudmouth possibly?

Re: Exhaust suggestions

check into flowmaster part # 430408. i think thats the right number. it's a single chamber 40 series. i replaced my bullits with these and am very pleased. they are small and sound prety good. and if your intereasted in this they give me a noticible power increase over the bullits. car actually revs as quick or quicker with these then with no muffler at all. car pulls through every gear faster and harder then before. and the inside resonance is not there, just the hint of the flowmaster trademark sound and rumble comming out the back.

i had to call flowmaster to find these, and summit carried them but they are apperently not advertised anywhere. the case deminsions are i think 13" long 8" wide 4" thick, i have them on true duals in a 4th gen out the back so fitment shouldnt be an issue.

almost forgot, it's still loud enough to set off car alarms if i gas it a little, nut not near as loud as the bullits were. the bullit set off alarms at idle, these i have to rev it a little. there will be a a sound clip on texasfbody.com by around 5 or 6 this afternoon. also has a video of a little burnout with the bullits, although the bullits sound good at WOT they sound like a truck at normal operation. also the clip of the flowmasters was 6500 rpm.

soory so long
