set your valves at 18-20 degrees, that should fix the problem, depending on how big your cam is, if possible call the manufacture and see if they can send you some specs on it, theat will tell you what the correct setting is....

is the popping random or constant? if its constant, check the firing order direction the easiest way to check that is to look at the vac advance, it goes in, in the direction the rotor spins. and yes i have seen motors run like that (though it was a ford).

It is not a consistant pop, it pops randomly. I double (more like triple) checked firing order, it is correct. Hopefully I will get a chance to work on it in the next few days and then I will know more then.

take the vacuum advance line off and set the timing to 10 degrees. Does it pop with no advance?? when you rev it?? What type of carb are you running?? Popping at idle or above normally means too lean...How are you adjusting the mixture of the carb??

you can try a comp test then a cylinder leakage test, but I think you have
a cam lobe warn flat and if you don't get the lifter out that's on the worn
lobe now it's going to get stuck.you will have to get it out the other way
