72 straight bumper to split bumper?

what's all involved in making a 72 straight bumper car into a 72 split bumper car?? What all would I have to change?

From what I understand it's just taking off one bumper and putting on another. Maybe some holes to fill or what not. But I'm about 80% sure it's just a simple swap

It's a little more than that. The front ends are completely different. All the sheetmetal in front of the fenders needs to be changed, as well as the bumpers and grilles. The RS grille is a two piece unit which has a kind of bumper around it.

it depends on if you want it to look like a real rs or not . the sheet metal is totally diffrent from the radiator support forward . im sure all the parts are available but costly (at least 1000 for everything). its true that you can just bolt on the bumpers but it just doesn't look right with the hood relese sticking out in the middle of the grill and the wrong directional signals and all

so would I have to change the core support? Or just the sheet metal infront of it?

Sounds like the whole front bumper should be changed. I think the RS bumper looks alot better anyways. I'm sure you could find one for salvage or a repro for a decent price.

Just the sheetmetal in front of the core and the hood release that is behind the grille. How much do they want for the car? I am kind of looking for a second gen too if one happens along pretty cheap. Would like some more details on it in case you pass it up.
I also have some brand new GM trim if you are interested.

Sounds like a good deal. I personally like the looks of the full bumper myself; but that's me.

The standard front end is lighter than the RS front end. Just an FYI if you want to race it.

Then you have the problems w/the paint on the urethane nose around the grill.

Best bet is to find a donor car. They're out there and can still be had relatively cheap. Just gotta find them.
