Question 68 Camaro Selt Belt Setup

I am currently in the process of upgrading my interior on my 68, and I noticed that when the boby shop welded in new floor boards that the location (mounting nut) for the sealts on the transmission tunnel was removed. Has anyone encounterd this, if so what did you do to correct it. I am probably planning on rewelding some type of nut / bracket to correct my problem.

Also, I was wondering if anyone has every changed or modified their seats belts - i.e. shoulder belt.

Thanks

I got a set of seats out of a 92 Del-Sol. I made a steel square that bolted to the floor and then bolted to the seats. I also took the seat belts from the same car.

The inside portion of the seat belt (female side) is attached to the seat, so the tunnel bolt part is not needed. The outside portion I reused the factory mounting location. For the top loop (just holds the belt up basicaly) I used one of the 2 stock bolts. Then I had to make a metal frame that fits inside the rear area where the rear windows are. This is where the recoil mechinisim is (what the seat belt retracts into). I will need to get custom rear "door pannels" (or what ever they are called) made up, but I was planning on that anyway.

I have some better pics somewhere, but this may give you the idea:

Is the mounting point on the tranny tunnel completely gone? When I had floorpans put in my 68, the new pans covered the bolts, I had to get underneath and drill a hole in the center of the nut, then use a hole saw to cut the new floor pan. Might not be the same in your case. But good luck.

Thanks for the ideas and helpful suggestions. Actually, I am not certain if the new boards are covering the orginal mounting nuts. I guess I am crawling under the car tonight.

THANKS AGAIN
