327 shifting at 7K?
327 shifting at 7K?
is the 222/230 @.050 too agressive? a friend of mine says i will have to shift at like 7k with my 327 with that cam. He also says with my Stock World S/R torquer heads i will need to get better valve springs to handle the RPM. Is all this true or is he over exaggerating? I want a roller cam that will shift at about 6000-6500 so if anyone has any suggestions i am open to them
no this cam will work fine. it will make peak horsepower around 6500 in a 327. its not too aggresive even though it is slightly smaller cubes. it will work great. mine is 255/259 and i will shift at around 7000-7200 with a 383.
springs depend on what size the heads came with. if this is a roller, you will probably have to step up a notch on the springs. try k-motion (K-800) springs. they are heavy duty and 1.46" so they should fit your head. actually, these may even be to strong a valve springs, but i know they got a step lower as well. they are inexpensive and they have worked fine for me.
good luck..
thanks,
mike
