327 rods?

What kind of rods would my 327 out of a 65 chevelle have, cast or forged? I'm looking to rebuild it for my 80 camaro and I plan on putting a 150 shot on it for occasional weekend fun, I plan on using forged pistons but I don't know if I can reuse the stock rods or upgrade.

Re: 327 rods?

Forged small journal rods. 327s had the strongest of the small journal rods. They have shoulders around the bolt heads for extra strength. Properly prepped & fitted with good bolts (11/32) they should be good to 6k. Just try to get the lightest pistons you can to keep the stress down on the rods, and don't wind it to the moon. High rpm stress kills rods, not hp.
