1st gen disc swap
Vette, Nova, and Camaro disc set up is pretty much all the same, you could use parts from any of these and be ok. I bought a new conversion kit which was 800 i think. If you can find a decent used pair go for it
Early Camaro, and Firebird brakes are interchangable. The Nova, Apolo, and Ventura through '74 will swap with the early F-bodies. The Corvette setup is entirely different. Early Camaros that got the Corvette brakes are very rare, 206 of them if the books are correct. For an inexpensive swap you can use the brakes form Chevelle type cars but you will need the steering knuckle from one of the aformentioned chassis. Chevelle, Cutlass and the like used the same disc and caliper setup but they had a front steer setup and the early F-body used a rear steer. It is still relatively easy to find inexpensive parts that work. A salvage yard with a Hollander book can help you with your search.
about the front steer vs. rear steer thing....
I got a set of disks from a 72 Monte. The monte was front steer and the Camaro rear steer. I used the monte spindle, caliper bracket, rotor, caliper, and soft lines and all bolted up. I did have to take the piece that connects the spindles (both drum and disk) to the drag links off. This is the actual piece bolted to the spindle that the ball joint connects to. This unbolted from the drums and then bolted back up to the disk spindles and everything went back together smoothly.
