built one a long time ago used a comp cams 268 hd did a little port work on the 305 heads and cut them 030. that made a nice little set up with a dual plane intake and a 600 holley.

[QUOTE=SupplySgt.;6204811]The TPI 305s (my IROC has one) puts out 215hp with the manual IIRC. But it puts out 295 on tq. The carb'd ones only put out like 175 hp in the 80s and 250 tq. the TBI ones in the late 3rd gens were only slightly more powerful than the carb'd ones. Go with a modern drivetrain if you want power. that or a BBC. I'm gathering up parts for a L67 (supercharged 3800) for my 79 than will put out more power than any of the late 70s V8s and puts out more hp than any of the TPI motors (the TPI 350 has it beat on torque but a few mods and I'll have LT1 power easily).[/QUOTE+1. The more i think about that swap the better it is;esp. being that his car was a poor model to start with.

pontiac 301

when the quadrijunk on my dads 301 went bad we put one on it, it doesnt really fit all that well on it and its about a 5 hp differance. also you might as well call up indiana jones if you want to find any decent preformance parts for the 301s or 305s. if your serious about upgrading your car the best be would to get a better engine.

That's what I've been trying to say the whole time. Guess we'll see what he decides. I've been in the 2nd gen world for a while now so I know what I speak of.

If I were you I'd ditch the 305 and pick up a 350. They can be found for pretty cheap, and are a much better choice.
