1971 gasket thickness

anyone know what the thickness of a stock head gasket is on a 1971, 2bbl, 9.0 to 1 ,350 out of a Monte Carlo if that makes a differance.

.018" I think. Steel shim for sure. If it helps the MrGasket steel shims should be a nearly exact replacement. I had to take the head off my stock '72 350 2bbl Monte and that's what I used.

If it's a steel shim like most production head gaskets were, I'd also say .018".

Then how about this one.... The stock 350 with .018 head gasket and 76cc heads has 8.5 to 1 compression. If I switch to 67cc heads using the same type of head gasket, what is the new compression?

Easy one. It will go up to ~9.4:1

(76+15/67+15)*8.5=~9.4
