1969 camaro 454?

hey guys, I want to know how much power a stock 454 had in a 69 camaro. not what there rated at but real power.

No such thing. The 454 was only offered in a Camaro in 1970.

In 1969, they were offered 4 different 396 engines and 2 427 engines with the ultimate being the ZL1 427 all aluminum engine.

ya my bad. I had a friend say he dad a 1969 camaro with a 454. I was like he said it came in it. I don't know much about the 1st gen camaros. His engine has a 454, comp cam (.520" lift 230@.050 lobe sep 110),Weind intake, 850 deamon, msd. 1967 427 heads off of a corvette. flat top pitons. what kind of power dose that have?

Well, it's entirely possible that it did come in the car. FROM THE DEALERSHIP, but not from the factory. GM didn't build 454 1969 Camaros. However, many dealerships did their own upgrades. These were not COPO cars, but dealership cars which were basically dealer-made hotrods.

Having said that, it was more likely dropped in their long after the 60's were a hazy memory. Which they were DURING the 60's as well, but that's a different topic. (If you remember the 60's, you weren't there.)


How much power does it make? That's hard to say. However, I'm going to guess around 450hp/500lbft at the flywheel. That's just a GUESS of course. I could easily be off 50hp in either direction. Too many factors and possibilities.

Maybe about 500 hp. That's still considered a small cam for a 454. It's probably closer to 450 hp.
