17" wheel backspacing on a '69

I am going to be ordering my REAR wheels soon. I need to know the correct backspacing that I need for the REAR of my '69 Camaro.

I am going to run ARE Torque Thrust II's, I want to run 17 x 9.5 with a 275-40ZR-17 Tire.

I have read either 4" or 4.5", please let me know.

Neither will work. Do you have or plan to have rear disc brakes? If so 5.5" b.s. is what you need, and if you're running drums for now you'll probably need one 1/8" to 1/4" spacer in between each wheel and drum. If you're NEVER going to run discs go with 5.25" b.s.

Done this combo several times, in fact just ordered my TTII's for a 69 daily driver car in the 17X9.5" with 5.5" b.s. The yellow car in my sig also has the 5.5" b.s.

Jody, your yellow car looks killer

That is exactly the look I want for my '69. Although your engine/suspension setup is waaay to crazy for my taste. Does the yellow car run 17's? Or are they bigger? I can't tell by the pics but they look like 18's.

My car has a 12-bolt rear with Baer disc brake kit in the rear. I already have 17 x 8's with 245-45-17 rubber up front, and wanted to run 17 x 9.5 out back with 275-40-17 rubber.

So you are saying this setup will work with 5.5" backspacing?

Thank you and Yes!! It works perfect with the Baer brakes and a 10 or 12 bolt stock width rear end. I had that exact size and backspacing on the yellow car, I just ordered the same for my 69 daily driver which is also getting Baer brakes, and just got a set for a friend's 69. They will work.

Thank you so much Jody, are you interested in trading your yellow '69 for my '94 T/A?

Love your car man, that thing is so sweet. I can't stop looking at it. It is exactly what I am building mine to be like. But with my tight budget I'll have it done in 2-3 years. Unless I sell my T/A.

Actually I sold that car to build the other two on the site. Thanks for the comments.
