Thumbs down 12-Bolt Troubles

Hey guys, I know its a Chevelle I'm asking about, but the differentials are the same. I installed a Powertrax No Slip locker into my 12-bolt, and ever since I have been getting a loud clattering coming from the rear. I temporaily fixed it by tightening the lug nuts, but it has come back. It only clatters when the car is free wheeling(no throttle or brakes.) I'm pretty sure it is coming from the right rear. How much play is supposed to be in the axle? I can pull the tire in and out, if I take it off, I can pull the axle in and out, just a tiny bit. I don't know what is wrong, its really embarrassing to listen to it. It isn't a bearing is it? I would think a bearing would grind and not clatter. Thanks

Cool

I have heard that the powertrax is kind of noisey and chatters when making turns.

This isn't the typical powertrax noise, I know what you are talking about. This is all the time. Doesn't even happen in turns. Only a straight line. Goes away with power, happens when no power is applied.

I had the same thing after i put one in mine. Measure the circumference of both tires. They must be within 1/4" of each other. My first set of tires that i used ended up being different by 3/4 of an inch and it was always unlocked exept under power. I now make sure my tires are within 1/8" to prevent that from happening. If thats not it then call power trax and see what they say.
