need a beater or motorcycle
need a beater or motorcycle
I need something reliable to get to work/school that gets good gas mileage, prolly above 25 or 30. Domestic preferred like a probe or a saturn. I've also considered a bike around 250cc that would be street legal. I need something under 2k and around southern Louisiana. Thanks.
Re: need a beater or motorcycle
I'm only a few hundred miles from baton rouge. I've got a 96 RS 3.8 that spun a rod but still runs, and an old yamaha bike (not a crotch rocket, but a real bike). Both need a little work, but they seem to be right up your ally.
Re: need a beater or motorcycle
How much work does the bike need? The 3.8 doesn't get good enough gas mileage to justify buying it. send pics to seawolf06@hotmail.com
Re: need a beater or motorcycle
I was pulling in 32 mpg on highway with the 3.8L. It's a great car, and need's alot less work than the bike. The bike's engine is locked up, so it needs to be rebuilt, a new paintjob, ignition, and there's no title
the car is great for a good gas milage beater. the KBB value on it is just over 3000. I'll let it go for 2200.

I have a basically new 92 Kawasaki EX500 Ninja. It only has about 6,000 miles on it total and I bought it with 3,000 miles on it. Want good gas milage, this bike got me over 50mpg all summer long. It has the full faring kit installed, and is fully tuned up with new air filter, spark plugs, oil, filter, brakes, coolant. Hop on and go needs absolutly nothing.

Re: need a beater or motorcycle
I've got a '93 Suburu Legacy Wagon with a 5 speed manual transmission, loaded with options that all work except for the cruise control, a bunch of new tune-up parts including new Toyo tires. It has 143k miles on it, but these things are known to last well past 200k. It's very reliable, I commute 100+ miles a day in it. Its in excellent shape except for the body, which has some rust spots and lots of dents. It gets about 25 mpg because something is wrong with the TPS sensor, it would probably get 30+ mpg if you fixed that. I haven't bothered because 25 mpg is good enough for me. For $2000 I'll drive it to Baton Rouge and fly back to Illinois.
