**update**FS 2001 Camaro SS

This is my arctic white/ebony 2001 Camaro SS M6 (6 speed) with just under 61,000 miles on it. The car is in GREAT shape and is only driven 3 days a week, if that. The rest of the time it is stored in my garage. I am looking to sell the car for $17,500 O.B.O. I have more pictures and a list of the modifications at the bottom. Email or PM me with any questions. steelsnowss@hotmail.com

This car makes 380 RWHP and 372 RWTQ SAE corrected (cutout closed). I’d say the car is “done” in the respect that it’s got basically full bolt-ons. This car has never seen N20 (nitrous) and has never been launched with any kind drag radials or slicks. You want more power? Slap on some heads, N20, supercharger or even a turbo!! Just remember, this thing basically has it all up to that point.

I built this car up with a goal in mind, and that was to have a car that was as reliable as a stock, if not more so, sound like an old school muscle car and be faster than any stock LS1. I am phasing out of the sports cars, so it’s time to move on. This car makes for a great daily driver. You’re not going to have to worry about changing the valve springs out every 10k mi because of a huge cam. I must say that I am very pleased with the results of my project and that I hope this car makes it to a good new home.

Exterior:
The exterior is in good shape overall. Since I’ve had the car, I’ve always washed it with a clean cotton towel and dried with a clean cotton towel. The car rests in the garage 4-5 days a week and comes out on most weekends. I’ve added a few exterior modifications to make the car look cleaner than your average Camaro.
-Very minor damage to the front bumper (see picture.) There is no dent, just minor cracks in the paint at and just around the damaged area.
-Dimple in the rear quarter panel (see picture.) I’ve noticed a lot of f-bodies with this dent in the same area. It was there when I bought the car.
-Added aftermarket Z06 rims, 17x9, with Eagle F1 tires 275/40/17. Roughly 25% tread left on all tires.
-Added Wings West grill insert.
-35% side tint and limo tint on back window.

Interior:
The interior is in overall good-excellent shape. There is nothing broken or missing in the interior of the car.

I have a subthump millhouse ( www.subthump.com ) sub enclosure that I am selling with the car WITHOUT the speaker and amp. The box is set up for 1 12” sub. There is also a line output converter connected to the stock stereo as well as amplifier connections to the rear of the car.
-Driver side floor mat has a small hole in it from where my heal rested on it for the clutch petal.
-Driver side Seat shows little wear, otherwise the rest of the seats are in excellent condition. (see pictures.)
-Minor spots/stains on the carpet.

Engine:
The engine works excellently! LS1 engines, in general, are very reliable with aftermarket modifications, and can last a long time. All internal engine modifications to this car are GM parts, minus the timing chain. All internal work has been performed professionally. 75% or so of the miles I put on the car were highway miles from trips I made.

The car got all of its oil changes and maintenance done at the dealer for the first 34k mi. I have records of that. When it came into my possession, I changed the oil every 3k mi and only used Mobile 1 synthetic 10w30 with a K&N oil filter. I’ve recharged the K&N air filter a few times as well over the past year and a half.
There are no ticking noises, no bent push rods, no detonation and no piston slap. The car runs STRONG.

The cam gives the car a minor buck at low RPMS only if you are completely off of the gas at 1000-1500 RPM, roughly.
Over the past 9-10 months, I’ve done all of the modifications to the engine. I’ve rounded up to the highest 1k mi for each mod to show how much use they have gotten:
-GM hotcam – 4k mi
-Z06 valve springs – 4k mi
-JDWIS timing chain – 4k mi
-SLP long tubes with race pipes and y-pipe – 8k mi
-Borla cat back – Came with car
-DMH e-cutout – Installed November 04
-ASP Underdrive Pully – 6k mi
-MTI clear lid – Came with car
-160* thermostat – 5k mi
-LS6 intake - stock on 01-02 F-bodies
-NGK TR55 with Taylor Thundervolt wires – 8k mi
-LS1 edit (dyno tune) – done with cam install in April 04

Drivetrain:
The drivetrain on this car compliments the vehicle’s horsepower rating. The clutch was replaced after the stock one gave out. A new fly wheel was installed as well. Also, the slave cylinder was upgraded along with the master cylinder to an adjustable one. The drill mod was done on the hydraulic system for better pressure. Depending on how you engage the clutch, it can chatter slightly.

The rear end is a hybrid Ford 8.8”. The center section was taken from a Ford 8.8” rear and had a GM 10 bolt axel tubes welded on. All the internal parts were upgraded and a torque arm mount was fabricated. At normal driving speeds there is no howl or wine. At higher speeds 80 mph+ the rear end starts to make a VERY minor howl on deceleration (foot completely off gas.). Over the course of the rear end break-in, it has gotten less noisy. There is a possibility it will keep getting quieter with more miles. The car has no ABS due to the car not having traction control.

The transmission shifts flawlessly. There is absolutely NO grind into gears. In fact, I’ve gotten compliments on the smoothness of the transmission from my mechanic who works on almost strictly LS1 cars.

The drive shaft is stock, other than the U-joint that I had to change to work with the 8.8”.
-RAM VDS 6000 – 5k mi
-PRO 5.0 shifter – 3k mi
-Extreme chassis 8.8" with 3.73 gears – 3k mi
www.extremechassis.com
-31 spline axels
-Eaton HD limited slip unit
-TA Gurdle
-Custom torque arm mount
-4 channel setup (F-bodies with traction control have 4 channel.)
-1/2" wheel studs
-3.73 gears
-bolt in axels
-adj master cylinder – 5k mi
-upgraded slave unit – 5k mi

Suspension and Brakes:
Most of the suspension and brakes are newer than a year. The front pads are Hawk HPS pads (20k mi) and the rear pads are NAPA Auto parts high performance pads (3k mi) that were replaced with the 8.8” rear end 3k mi ago.

The springs and shocks went in together as well as the relocation brackets. Relocation brackets adjust the geometry of the rear end to reduce wheel hop and give better traction.

I bought the lower control arms, strut tower brace, and torque arm used. The rest of the items were bought new and installed on the car.
-BMR lowering springs (red) – 7k mi
-BMR relocation brackets (red) – 7k mi
-BMR adj panhard bar (red) – 3k mi
-Hotckiss strut tower brace (black) – 4k mi
-Hotckiss lower control arms (black) – 3k mi
-Bilstien HD shocks – 7k mi
-Kenny brown DD subframe connectors – 5k mi
-Random Tech torque arm (black) – 3k mi
-1le front sway bar (stock on ss)
-“drilled/slotted” rotors (they’re actually molded, so they wont crack like actual drilled rotors.) – 500 mi

Other parts:
The car comes with some stock parts. Depending on the size of these parts, some might need to be shipped. Others can be transported within the car to its destination. If you are local to me, I can assist in transporting the stock parts. If there are stock parts the buyer doesn’t want, I will get rid of them.
-random technology high flow cats
-stock cam
-stock headers, cats and y pipe
-stock air intake
-stock rear end
-stock torque arm
-stock ss springs
-stock front brake rotors (1 set stock 40k mi, 1 set OEM brembo 21k mi)
-t-top shades
-trunk cover (replaced with subthump millhouse enclosure)
-stock hurst shifter
-Borla cutout plates

Re: FS 2001 Camaro SS

I’m getting the car smogged next week and after that ill have 90 days to get rid of it before the car will need to be smogged again. Just a reminder; I have a 4 page write-up as well as a video clip and 23 pictures.
