wiring 4 channel amp into a stock monsoon
wiring 4 channel amp into a stock monsoon
Of couse I junked the monsoon, but im trying to figure out what to do with the speakers.
Im redoing all the wiring and found out that the front speakers have 4 wires going into them. what do i do? should i just split the wires from chanels 1 and 2 to the tweeters?
Eventually i am going to by new speackers, but in the means time any tips?

Re: wiring 4 channel amp into a stock monsoon
The Monsoon speakers use a form of bi-amping. The woofers get their power from the Monsoon amp while the tweets get their power from the amp in the HU. That's the reason for the 4 wires.
If you haven't already I would highly recommend that you run all new speaker wires. Connect the mid-woofers to your amp with the new speaker wires. Then connect the Monsoon tweeters in parallel with the mid-woofers. The Monsoon tweeter has a small capacitor glued to it for a crossover so be sure to use it. The mid-woofers are 2ohms so be sure your amp can handle the lower impedance. Most amps can these days so that shouldn't be a problem.

Oh yah, all new 16 gauge wires everywhere.
To be more specific in what im doing, i an no longer using any HU, i have a in dash PC. so the tweeters cant be powered by the stock HU anymore.
The amp is an alpine Mrv-F450 wtih the front two channels being the front speakers and i will take you advise to run the front tweeters in parallel with them. the mid factory subs will be channels 3 and 4 and possibly run the rear 3.5'' speakers in parallel with them, not sure on that tho.
the 5th channel of course goes to the 10 alpine sub.
Any comments sugjustions greatly appreciated.

My only recommendation would be to nix the hatch speakers from the equation. I'm a huge proponent of "front stage only" setups for car stereo systems. Unless you plan to have a surround sound setup where you can add delay to the rear channels, rear speakers just aren't necessary. IMO of course.
