window failure

So my window would skip and not drive all the way up, Ive read these motors are underpowered. Mine turned out to be the gearing stripped a bunch of teeth, but has anyone ridden themselves of the motor replacement by upping voltage to the motor?

Re: window failure

yeah, lots of people have rewired them with heavier gauge wire to overcome the high resistance. there is even someone that sells a kit to do it. You really cant up the voltage though.

Re: window failure

so thicker gauge wires and maybe a lower resistance relay?

Re: window failure

I had two 500' rolls of 8 gauge lying around, so I ran new + and - into each door. I used the stock switches to control two relays per door to get the reversing polarity. Thats it. You dont have to go that heavy, Its just I was using up stock I already had.
