Will a new stereo head unit (radio/CD player/amp) work with my stock 2 ohm speakers?

I will be replacing the stock Monsoon radio / cassette player with a new stereo. One of those aftermarket radio/CD player with built-on amp. Not sure which one to buy yet.

Since my stock Monsoon speakers are all 2 ohm, will the built-in amp in these new head units (HU) be compatable with the stock speakers? Hate to have to replace all those speakers...

Car is a 98 TA

Thanks,
Ron

And, why would GM use 2 ohm speakers when 4 ohm is the industry standard?

Jeeze, even a cheap $75 stereo from KMart has 4 ohm speakers...

It will work fine untill you can afford to replace the whole system. And GM is basically retarded. The stereo isn't ment to be good, just to sell more cars. If they could sell more cars by not having a radio they would.

Look into Alpine or Pioneer. I have had many good experiences with both.

PM me if you need some good places to shop online.
