will my car have a wireing harness?

i want to put in a cd player and i have an 84 z28 with the factory radio/cassette player. i didnt take it out yet, so i was wondering if it has the plug so i can use a harness or do i have to wire the entire thing? also, i had a 93 chevy cavalier that i bought a wiring harness for and still got it, if my camaro has a plug, will this one work with it? thanks.

93 harness is different it wont work unless someone previously rewired it w/ a 90-up rev. harness. I belive yours should be 2-3 seperate plugs + a 2 wire plug for power/dimmer.

Should be Metra part # 70-1677

The cavalier's shoulda been #70-1858

I rewired my 90 firebird cause it came with the 1677 harness and i hate that one, i rewired it with the 1858. If you want to do that the metra rev.harness part number should be 71-1858

2 options
-buy the proper idiot proff harness
-cut the factory plug ins off and wire it up yourself (cheack my site for the stock wire colors and what they do)

Do it right the first time and get the harness. Less head aches in the end. If you ever want to change the headunit to another or put the old one back in you can easily do it with a $7 wire harness at WalMart. My 2 cents

definatly rewire it with a harness, I alsways tell the customers that come in that if they hard wire and it ever change the deck or it gets stolen those factory wires are gonna keep getting shorter and shorter behind the dash making it more of a pain to fix.
