Will a Alpine Type-R 10 sub work in a subthump box...

I have a brand new Alpine Type-R 1041D sub that I plan on putting in the driver's side subthump box. I thought it would work. But the guys at car toys said that they don't believe that it would work.

What do you guys think? I am not looking for a competition stereo system, but just something that sounds good.

Thanks

The Type-R is on Steve's recommended subwoofer list for his driver side Stealthbox.

That's is what I thought. I should of known the people at Car Toys didn't know what they were talking about.

What did they say? I can get a 10" Alpine Type X in that box if I want to.

They just said, "I don't believe there is going to be enough volume in that box. But we have a box here that will work just for what you need"

Typical salesperson. That sub will work down to .5 cubes so it works really good. The only thing they have that would be better is if they built you a fiberglass box. And that would cost a lot more and they'd most likely have to use your car as a mold.

Thanks Steve. I figured as much. I also just thought they were trying to be all slick and make an extra sale. Anyways, the box looks great and I can't wait to get everything installed:

Focal 165v Components
Alpine Type R 1041-d sub
Subthump box
Custom tweeter pods for the mirror area
Clarion head unit with the music catcher feature
Phoenix Gold R8.04 4 channel amp

Should sound fairly decent.

That too. I didn't realize you had the box already. I know it'll sound good for ya.

Wow, that's exactly what I'm looking at doing. Except I'm going with an Alpine Deck. And I haven't decided on the amp. What's the rating on that amp?

I have the 10" Type-R sub in a stealth box powered by a JBL 300.1

It sounds nice and clean...I can "crunk" it when I need to.
