Who makes a good cd head unit with a built in EQ?

I'm looking to spend around $300-400 on a cd player for my TA.
I want satelite radio, something that looks nice, detachable face, and a built in eq.

Kenwoods don't have removeable faces and Alpines don't seem to have the eq's.
Is pioneer any good?

What Kenwoods were you looking at?
I've bought to low end models in the last year or so, and both have removeable face plates.

what do you want the EQ for? The Alpine that I have has a basic EQ on it that works awesomely; although it doesn't have the moving bars and all the fancy jazz.

I've had some problems with the standard Pioneers, but no problems with the Premier models. I've also had problems with Alpines. Pioneer and Alpine work with XM, while Kenwood works with Sirius, unless you go the FM modulated route. I'd also look at MP3/WMA capability. I'd stay away from motorized face plates regardless of brand.

I have the Pioneer Premiere P940MP and love it. I got it off of ebay for about $350. It does have the motorized face, built in eq, built crossovers, subwoofer out control, plays mp3 and wma, and has the organic screen on it. Also xm ready.

My Pioneer DEH-P6600 has an awesome built in EQ (TONS of settings), fold down and detachable faceplate, and XM ready. Paid $150 shipped on eBay, very good bang for the buck IMO.

I'm getting a Pioneer DEH 760MP in my car tomorrow (premier), so I'll tell you what I think of it. My sister just got a cheap Kenwood unit and I was pleasantly suprised by it so you might want to check those out too.

I might be getting more sweet stuff soon cause the guy that does my install wants me to make a website for his audio business whoohoo!

Pioneer rules the car reciever arena as far as I'm concerned - all I've ever used, never had any problems.

Good news, the 760mp freakin rocks. I am very much pleased with this unit. It may be a little too good because all the indie band recordings are noticeably worse quality lol.

I'd say look at Blaukpunt. I bought a car with a mid 90's Blaukpunt cheapo CD player in it a couple of years ago. It was the baragain model, but it still sounded great, worked properly, and all the buttons felt like new on it. I have a Casablanca in my Camaro right now(discontiuned a year ago on Crutchfield, was $300, got it for $150.) It works great and hasn't given me any problems. It also has a very nice 7 band EQ built in, along with a sub, front, and rear amp output. I would stay away from Sony, had an Xplode in my old car, thing was a piece of junk.

Nothing in particular, just something that sounds great and looks good.

I want a built in 5 or 7 band, not just treble and bass. What is the basic eq you have.

Realy? I always thought that Alpine, Eclipse, and Kenwood were #1, but I haven't been into stereos for years. I though pioneer was just OK.

I have always put Pioneer, Kenwood and Alpine into the same category. Similar quality and you can find them anywhere. 6 out of 10 stars. Eclipse is a step ahead of all three in my book, but usually a touch more expensive for roughly the same features. On another note, I see Eclipse becoming more and more main-stream every day. Used to only be able to find them in select higher end privately owned stores. Now they are one step away from Best Buy.
