Theres gotta be an opening somewhere thru the firewall, i'm sure someone knows exactly where it is, any help would be great, thanx.

Also with all looping and what not would 20 ft of power cable be enough to run from the front of the car to the back?

 

its easier just to drill a hole in the firewall than go searching for one. its real easy if you have a unibit. just make sure you dont drill into anything on the other side!

 

The gromet (hole) is located on the passenger side of the car underneath the PCM. It's easier to remove some panals from the inside and then feed it through to the outside. Unless you got really small hands/arms, you're going to have to move the PCM out of the way to feed it through from the engine bay. Take a flashlight and shine it behind the PCM so you get an idea of where it's at so you can find it easier from the inside.

Yes, 20 ft should be sufficient to make it through the car.

Moving the PCM is no problem for me, the other question is will the wiring (10 ga) run underneath the carpet if the seat is removed and not bulge out thru the carpet basically i'm asking if the wiring will reach a point where it will be exposed or is it possible to hide it all the way thru to the back? Also where would be a good short location in the back for a ground? Thanx again...

 

You can hide it behind the paneling all the way to the back. How many watts are you running I usually suggest 8 gauge at least, 4 is safer.

Mine is ground to the chasis on the pass. wheel well using a Stinger grounding apparatus. There are plenty of bolts in the back that will work just fine if you're not **** like me.

 

So there are bolts on the right side in the back where the spare tire used to be? I'm gonna be using a 250 watt amp probably won't even be bridging it so i'm not to worried about the wire ga.

 

you can pretty much ground anywhere. you can take just scrape off a place to expose bare metal to ground it.

 

I managed to hide 1/0 gauge under my carpet and it not show...

I can't see it anyway...

Be careful, after I put mine through the firewall and installed everything my car would not start. And when it did it would run for like 2 seconds. The next morning I cranked it over and got it to run but had trouble in keeping it to run. I don't know what I hit or messed up, but just be careful going through the hole by the PCM!

 

Well if you took the PCM out maybe the connectors weren't in all the way?

But i'll take that warning seriously.

 

There is no need to disconnect anything. Just unscrew the two bolts, pull out and set it aside enough for you to squeeze your arm through. In ran 1/0AWG through that grommit will no problems. Hid it all the way back to the rear. It's not hard at all....

 

hey i'm sure everyone here will disagree with me.. but i'm a lazy *** and i didnt feel like feeding wire through my firewall and hiding it all the way to the back.. instead i soldered into the wires that were running to the stock bose amp for the rear subwoofer.. there was also a already remoted power line and 3 grounds back there too. i'm running a single 10" sub in a ported enclosure with a 400 watt amp bridged and it sounds awesome.. i dunno just fillin you in on my lil ryan-riggin job :-D

wow how strange last night it caught fire in the garage and took my house down with it haha jk.. i dont think its that risky is it i mean afterall it is on a fuse.. i just dont see much difference as long as im getting good power, good ground, and clean sound inputs.. i bow down to you that spend the time to rip your cars apart and make fiberglass enclosures etc etc but i just wanted a lil more bass and only wanted to spend about an hour to get it.

 

Running a power wire that is too small causes increased heat on the wire. If the wire gets too hot, it melts, if it melts, it can short, if it shorts, it sparks, if it sparks it can cause a fire...

Not saying that it will happen, but it could.
